Cakovec is a beautiful city in the most northern part of Croatia and lies between the Drava and Mura rivers. It is also a natural border between Croatia and the neighbouring countries of Slovenia and Hungary.
The houses in Cakovec are surrounded by beautiful flower gardens and, instead of metal or wire fences, the people of Cakovec and Medjimurje surround their yards with beautiful trees. This goes to show that the people of this lovely city are very aware of the beautiful nature which surrounds them and take pride in preserving it. Medjimurje, due to its beauty and cleanliness, is also known as a „little Switzerland“ in Croatia.
The city of Cakovec is in the centre of the county of Medimurje and has a population of 17,000 people. The county is divided up into 21 municipalities and along with the city of Cakovec, are the cities Prelog and Mursko Sredisce.
