Numerous ruins of the antique buildings testify of a rich history from which the most known is the antique aqueduct carved in a live stone, and which dates from the I. century. Except the aqueduct here are also 3 catholic basilica from the IV. century, and many objects and parts of sacral buildings that are kept in the archaeological anthology of Stomorica beside the main church.

The day of the city is celebrating the 13 June when the summer cultural and entertainment events begin.

As a leading tourist city on the island, Novalja can be proud with many gravel and sandy beaches of which the most popular are Zrce, Caska, Strasko, Babe, Trincel, Branicevica and Vrtic.
