On the north coast of the island of Hvar, situated in the centre of the island, surrounded by pine trees and beautiful beaches, is located Jelsa.

The population deals with wine vine growth, agriculture, olive growing, fishing and ship building, and they also have a long history of the touristy and sailing tradition.

A rich touristy tradition dates since the ancient roman times and the medieval period. A proof to that are the rustic villas and rural possessions in the neighbourhood. In the 1911 was built the first Hotel in Jelsa - Jadran, while in the 1913 was published the first tourist guide of Jelsa. At the end of the 60's in the XX century it comes to a fast develop of the touristy sector after the construction of many accommodation and hospitality buildings.

Nowadays you can find the accommodation in campings, hotels and private houses. In restaurants and taverns you can taste the fish menus and the famous wines of Hvar.

The sport gym with basketball, volleyball, handball, and outside soccer and bowling fields and the fields for tennis...
