Active tourism is a temporary travel and stay, which is the main motive for recreation, outside his residence. In the 1911 was built the first Hotel in Jelsa - Jadran, while in the 1913 was published the first tourist guide of Jelsa. At the end of the 60's in the XX century it comes to a fast develop of the touristy sector after the construction of many accommodation and hospitality buildings.

Nowadays you can find the accommodation in campings, hotels and private houses. In restaurants and taverns you can taste the fish menus and the famous wines of Hvar.
