Gastronomy Cavtat

 

Gastronomy and tourism have much in common, so that the development of one without the other almost unthinkable. Going back a few years in the past, tourism has amounted to a tour of historical and cultural sites, and a tour of natural beauty such as national parks, nature parks, and general landscape which knows itself to be beautiful. Cavtat is a small coastal town on the southern side of the Zupska inlet and 20km south of Dubrovnik. This town was built on the southern slopes of the Rat peninsula with the Tiha inlet on the southern side.
Being so close to Dubrovnik, tourism in Cavtat has grown and it has become quite a popular tourist destination in Southern Dalmatia. For example, accomodations include a wide range of private homes which offer rooms and apartments, villas, campsites and hotels.
Cavtat's backdrop, which are the hills of Konavle, is also a source of economic growth because they are a source of quality homemade wine and delicious traditional cuisine. Konavle is an area of hills and valleys rich in vegetation and there are around 30 villages which cover its plains. This area is unique because, out of its rocky landscape, much vegetation grows such as forests filled with pine trees, cypresses, and underbrush, lush vineyard, orchards filled with fig trees, olive trees, fruit trees as well as many types of vegetables.
